Telecare Distress Line’s staff and volunteers offer suicide prevention workshops to interested members of the community.
SafeTALK and ASIST are two comprehensive workshops developed by Living Works Education.
Some Telecare volunteers have been certified by Living Works to deliver the certificate courses to the public.

SafeTALK is a 3-hour seminar that teaches participants how to identify people who may be having thoughts of suicide and how to connect these people to appropriate suicide first aid.
Feedback shows that participants feel much more confident and comfortable talking about suicide following the seminar and that they are better prepared to help.
Telecare is committed to providing this important information in the community. P
lease contact us if you are looking for a SafeTALK in your area or if you would like to book one for your group. Costs vary by group size and by distance from Orillia.

ASIST (Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training) is a two-day interactive workshop during which participants learn practical suicide intervention skills.
